The Proton l have seen a couple driving around infact at a local car yard there is a Proton Brumby for sale and that is in Campbelltown N.S.W. Australia and we never had the scrapage scheme which many cars from the 1980s and 1990s survived and because most older cars don't have a tendency to rust except for much older vehicles many 1990s cars don't rust so they live on and this especially with Toyota's Holden's and Australian built Fords and l suppose Protons

The one aspect in which I disagree with you, Geoff, is in your view that falling prices are a bad thing. That's like the rising house price argument. All a permanently rising value brings in ever decreasing accessibility for the an ever increasing majority of the people. Falling prices democratize the market and allow more of us to get in and enjoy the benefits of classic car ownership, just as a fall in house prices would allow more people to own their own homes, which would be a good thing as it gives them more of a stake in their own futures.

Thanks for the memory, I drove a Proton years ago because my late partner would much rather drive my 1959 Bedford CA campervan with 3 forward gears on the dash ( but no gear knob) the state of the art anti theft device doubled as a gear knob a 4" length of copper pipe which you took with you when you left the vehicle. He loved that vehicle. I found it a challenge to drive . It was a bargain at £350. Exempt for tax. £95 for insurance with breakdown cover. That's what I call a bargain. My C15 Romahome is much newer at 1994, driving is easier but the C15 had optional brakes! All C15s have horrible brakes. The tax is horrendous and it cost me thousands not hundreds so perhaps I should have kept the Bedford. Happy days.

Civil engineer here (and biker, former car guy). The National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) Is all about environmentalism that often involves a questionable approach. Along with that it's ALL about public and "sustainable" transport. There's absolutely nothing about road surfaces and very little about traffic flow. The traffic flow regs we do have are very old and essentially boil down to geometry of roads, where the goal is often to slow traffic. The transport MP has said on video "we need to move away from private vehicle ownership" and "It is out job to make these decisions for everyone". It's clear as day what's going on. It's a long game and we're loosing.

Listen people in order to run their surveillance system they need POWER and ELECTRICITY ! Ok that's what this is all about the power needed is ridiculous. Just think of how much it takes to run Cern or some of the harp systems around the place never mind the computing power it takes to store and handle all the data they now handle !!!
